New Delhi, July 18: Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted to a hospital early Saturday after completing 20 days of his indefinite hunger strike at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, following concerns over his deteriorating health.
Delhi Police said the action was taken in compliance with the Delhi High Court’s directions and on the advice of medical experts. The court had earlier ordered daily health monitoring and directed authorities to take all necessary steps to safeguard Wangchuk’s life.
Police also appealed to protesters to vacate the protest site peacefully after a brief commotion during the operation.
Wangchuk has been on a fast demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak.
