Early Saturday after authorities warned residents of a hostile aerial threat. AFP journalists reported hearing two explosions in the capital shortly after the alert was issued. The warning was lifted about 30 minutes later by Saudi Arabia’s civil defence agency. The incident comes amid heightened tensions involving the Iran-aligned Houthi movement in Yemen, which has intensified attacks and declared a maritime blockade targeting Saudi vessels. It was reportedly the first time Riyadh had been directly affected since fighting in neighbouring Yemen escalated in July.
