“I have rejected the BJP…No Question To Go Back,” Swami Prasad Maurya remarked ahead of the next UP Assembly elections.
Swami Prasad Maurya, whose resignation from Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet sparked a wave of BJP exits just ahead of the elections, said today that he would declare his next step on Friday and that he “hasn’t quit the BJP or joined the Samajwadi Party” yet.
Still a BJP target, he made a series of confusing claims about joining Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party.
“My move has triggered a bhuchaal (earthquake) in the BJP,” he boasted to NDTV, suggesting that more ministers and MLAs would follow him out the door.
Along with Mr Maurya, four MLAs have already announced their resignations: Roshan Lal Verma, Brijesh Prajapati, Bhagwati Sagar, and Vinay Shakya.
Mr Maurya attempted to be cautious about his future moves.
