One killed, another injured in Pattan road accident

Ramban, Sep 28: Two persons including a minor girl died and another person was injured in a road accident at Gharsoo today.Reports said the mishap occurred when a car rolled down and plunged into river Chenab at Gharsoo area of Pul Doda on Batote – Kishtwar National Highway,Police sources said an Alto car bearing registration number JK17A-4753 on its way to Drabshalla, Kishtwar met with an accident in Gharsoo area of Pul- Doda.They said on getting information senior police alongwith rescue teams of local volunteers and UTDRF reached the spot and jointly launched a search operation to locate occupants of the car,They said boats were also pressed into service for rescue operation. After hectic efforts two bodies and one injured was retrieved from the accident site.Police identified the deceased as Summaya Tabasum daughter of Raiz Ahmed resident of Bhella, Doda and Mohammad Imran, Shams Din resident of Saroor, Drabshalla Kishtwar.Police identified the injured as Iqra Banoo daughter of Tanveer Ahmed resident of Saroor, Drabshalla,Kishtwar. Iqra was admitted at Associate Government Medical College and Hospital Doda for treatment.Meanwhile, some local residents said that concerned road maintenance agency has failed to install crush barriers at vulnerable places on Batote Kishtwar National Highway.They said accident was avoided if crush barriers were installed at Garsoo, alongside Batote Kishtwar National Highway. Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda, Mohammad Aslam personally monitored the rescue operation at accident site.
