Srinagar – As the autumn chill intensifies residents of Srinagar and its outskirts are raising concerns over the administration’s decision to continue with summer school timings. With sunrise now at 6:50 am school children are seen braving the biting cold as they wait for buses as early as 7 am sparking widespread concern among parents and teachers alike.
Parents particularly those of primary school students expressed their frustration in conversations with Shaharbeen Times, highlighting how the extended summer schedule is taking a toll on their young children’s health. Many parents report that the early exposure to cold has already led to illnesses among their kids who struggle to stay warm during the early morning commute.
One concerned parent shared, “My child has caught a cold twice this month already. Standing in the chilly air waiting for the school bus is taking a toll on their health and comfort. This is not the way our children should start their day.” Other parents echoed similar concerns urging authorities to reconsider the school timings in light of the changing weather conditions.
Srinagar’s administration has yet to implement winter timings. Teachers and school staff also expressed concern noting that the current schedule is far from ideal, especially for younger students who are more vulnerable to the effects of cold weather.
Parents and school representatives are calling on local authorities to act swiftly to alleviate these difficulties by introducing winter timings which they say would better align with the seasonal conditions and protect the health and well-being of students.
The administration has yet to issue a response, but the growing outcry suggests that a change may soon be necessary.
