Srinagar: In a scathing criticism of the National Conference-led government, opposition MLA Waheed Para took to Twitter to highlight the alleged inequities in the recent recruitment process for lecturer posts by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).

In his tweet, Para stated, “Out of 575 lecturer posts referred to JKPSC for recruitment, only 238 are for open merit students, while 337 are reserved. This injustice needs to stop! Fail to understand why is the NC-led govt continuing with BJP introduced reservation policy?”

Another day, another shocker! Out of 575 lecturer posts referred to JKPSC for recruitment, only 238 are for open merit students, while 337 are reserved. This injustice needs to stop! Fail to understand why is the NC led govt continuing with BJP introduced reservation policy?…

He further urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to revamp the reservation policy, emphasizing the need for a distribution based strictly on population proportions.

Locals, while speaking to Shaharbeen Times, echoed Para’s concerns, calling the current system β€œunfair and unjust”. A resident remarked, “This policy deprives deserving candidates of opportunities. It feels like merit is being sidelined.”

With growing discontent among students and parents, Para’s call for change has added fuel to the ongoing debate about reservation policies in Jammu and Kashmir. The public awaits a response from the government, as all eyes are now on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s next move.
