Records Shattered: Srinagar Registers Highest June Temperature in 20 Years
Srinagar, June 18:
In a striking display of intense summer heat, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2°C today, marking the highest temperature for the month of June in the last two decades. This surpasses all June records since June 25, 2005, when the summer capital last saw temperatures soar to 36.5°C.
According to data provided by Kashmir Weather, this scorching spell is inching closer to the all-time highest June temperature ever recorded in Srinagar — 37.8°C on June 29, 1978.
The rise in temperature has sparked concern among residents and health officials alike, as heatwave conditions continue to grip parts of the Kashmir Valley, which is otherwise known for its mild and pleasant summers.
Further updates on the heatwave pattern and weather advisories will be issued as the situation develops.
