Kulgam, Sep 22 A road accident in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district claimed one life and left another person injured on Monday, after a scooty collided with a load carrier at Nai Basti Qaimoh.

According to officials, the incident occurred when a scooty bearing registration number JK18B-3020 rammed into a Tata mobile load carrier (JK11J-7717) whose driver remains unidentified. The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the immediate death of the scooty rider.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Gani, son-in-law of Mohammad Jabar Mir, a resident of Harvit DH Pora. Locals who rushed to the spot said the collision was so forceful that Gani succumbed to injuries on the scene before any medical help could arrive.

The pillion rider, identified as Mohammad Ayoub Malik of Bugam, suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to the local health centre in Qaimoh for preliminary treatment before being referred to Government Medical College Anantnag, where doctors are monitoring his condition.

Police have taken cognizance of the matter and launched an investigation. The driver of the load carrier reportedly fled the spot after the collision
