PDP leader and MLA Pulwama Waheed-ur-Rehman Para on Friday cautioned the Jammu & Kashmir administration against proposing any hike in electricity charges, asserting that the government must conduct a real ground assessment before taking such decisions.Para said that while people in posh localities may not feel the impact, “for ordinary Kashmiris, winter is a battle for survival.”“In Kashmir, electricity is not a luxury, it is life support,” he wrote in a post on X, warning that any move to raise power tariffs amid harsh winter conditions would be cruel and catastrophic for poor and middle-class households already struggling to make ends meet.He added that policies that ignore human suffering “have no place in a just administration,” urging the government to prioritise public welfare before considering tariff revisions.
