A Top rank traffic official told news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that they are ready to implement the orders adding that orders to enforce this decision in the city should come from the administration.

He maintained that the government will have to take such decisions to improve the traffic system adding that before implementing this formula in the city, a comprehensive plan has to be prepared and it has to be taken care of to facilitate the movement of the citizens.

“The odd-even formula was introduced to reduce air pollution in Delhi because the number of vehicles in the national capital Delhi is very high, while the city of Srinagar has only more than 300,000 registered vehicles, which is much less than Delhi,” he said.

He also said that due to heavy snowfall in the valley last week, the roads were covered with snow and there was a lot of snow around them. As a result, the traffic system in the city as well as other towns remained very bad. (KDC)
