One hurt in scuffle at gram sabha in Uri

Uri, Jan 13: A man was injured during a scuffle that broke out at Gram Sabha of Forest Rights Committee (FRC) in upper Garkote village of Uri area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday.

According to reports, at FRC gram Sabha was held in the village in which officials of Rural Development Department (RDD) and locals were present.

A scuffle broke out between two parties in which a person was injured and the Sabha got affected, reports said.

The injured person has been identified as Akber Din Balote. He was shifted to sub- district hospital Uri for the treatment.

Block Development Officer (BDO) Uri Arif Ahmad Shah told GNS that there were some issues between the two political parties which led to the scuffle.

He added that the Secretary Panchayat
has also reported the same to the police.

However, a senior police officer in Uri told GNS that a case has been registered. “Further investigation is going on,” he said.(GNS)
