The thoroughfare was closed due to the sudden collapsing of the retaining wall of an important bridge at Kela Morh, Ramban with no optional immediate carriageway available.

“Jammu-Srinagar highway is closed due to sudden damage of bridge at Kela Morh, Ramban. It will take at least 05 days to repair the damaged bridge as stated by NHAI,” a traffic department official said. However, the official said, Jammu-Doda-Kishtwar, Jammu-Ramban, Magerkot- Banihal, and Banihal-Qazigund stretches are through for traffic. “People are requested to take their journey accordingly.”

Sources told GNS that hundreds of vehicles are stranded around the damaged spot.
