Srinagar, July 18: Army troops opened fire after detecting suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district late Friday night, officials said.
According to officials, the incident occurred in the Tarkundi forward area at around 10 pm when alert troops observed the movement of suspected terrorists near the border fence. In response, the soldiers opened fire to thwart any possible infiltration attempt.
The firing reportedly continued for nearly one-and-a-half hours and was followed by retaliatory small arms fire from across the border. No casualties or damage have been reported so far.
Security forces have intensified surveillance in the area, while searches are underway to ascertain whether any infiltration attempt was made under the cover of darkness.
