SRINAGAR — Massive resentment has erupted among Class 10th students in Jammu and Kashmir following structural blunders in the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) Urdu annual regular examination conducted on October 22, 2026. Aggrieved candidates have strongly urged the board authorities to award a total of 5 grace marks to compensate for the technical flaws in the question paper.
Dual Blunders Flaggad by Students
The controversy centers around two major errors that left students confused across examination halls:
- The Syntax Analysis Blueprint Error (Question 8 — 4 Marks): According to the standard JKBOSE exam framework, the internal choice (“OR”) for the Tarkeeb-e-Nahvi syntax question must provide one Jumla Ismiya (Nominal Sentence) and one Jumla Faliya (Verbal Sentence). However, the paper setter mistakenly printed two sentences belonging to the exact same grammatical category (Jumla Faliya):
• لڑکی نے خوبصورت گانا گایا (Verbal)
• وہ کتاب لکھ رہا ہے (Verbal)
This structural lapse completely denied students a fair conceptual alternative, prompting them to officially appeal for 4 grace marks for this section. - Flawed Grammar Objective Question (1 Mark): Additionally, an objective multiple-choice question concerning grammar (“Rashid bohut ghareeb hai”) offered entirely incorrect choices, with the right option (Faa’il / Subject) completely omitted from the paper. Students have demanded 1 grace mark for this misprint.
Students Urge Immediate Board Action
Citing extreme stress and a loss of valuable time attempting to interpret the flawed layouts, candidates are collectively demanding a total of 5 grace marks for these two specific errors.
While students continue to voice their concerns across social media channels, JKBOSE typically tables such paper discrepancies before a high-level subject expert committee to issue official notification criteria regarding remedial grace distribution during subsequent evaluation.
