SRINAGAR: SKIMS Medical College Hospital, Bemina has suspended five MBBS students and interns for one week and imposed a Rs 10,000 fine on each following their reported involvement in a ragging incident at the institution
An order issued by the Principal, SKIMS Medical College, Bemina, said the five were found involved in an incident of ragging that amounted to a “gross violation” of the University Grants Commission Anti-Ragging Regulations.
Those facing action are Shubham Verma and Sunil Verma from the 2023 batch, Shahdev from the 2024 batch, and interns Rupal Suntal and Lavish Sharma from the 2021 batch
The disciplinary action was taken on the recommendation of the institution’s Anti-Ragging Committee. The five have been barred from attending classes and participating in other academic or internship activities for one week.In addition, each has been fined Rs 10,000, with the amount to be deposited into the prescribed CD-10 account. The students and interns have been directed to submit the payment receipt to the Academic Section within five days of the order being issued.
The parents or guardians of all five have also been asked to accompany them before the Anti-Ragging Committee for further disciplinary proceedings.The order said non-compliance with the directions could lead to further action under the applicable UGC Anti-Ragging Regulations and institutional rules.
