Soldier injured in South Kashmir encounter, Search operation continues
Kulgam, July 27, KNT: Militants reportedly managed to escape from the encounter site after a soldier sustained bullet injuries during an encounter in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that an encounter between militants and combined forces broke out in Brayihard Kathpora village of Yaripora in Kulgam. A joint team of police, Army’s 34 RR and CRPF laid a siege around the village after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in the village.
Sources added that there was an exchange of fire in which a soldier sustained injuries.
They said that militants opened indiscriminate fire and hurled grenades as the cordon was being tightened around them.
Latest reports suggested that militants after resorting to firing, managed to escape from the spot, however, joint forces extended the cordon to adjacent villages. The search operation was underway till the filing of this report. (KNT)
