Srinagar 18th August: In a pointed criticism of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah accused the party of being overly confident and setting unrealistic expectations ahead of the upcoming elections.
Omar Abdullah highlighted the BJP’s tendency to boast ambitious slogans, such as their recent claim of securing ‘400 seats.’ He remarked, “The BJP’s exaggerated claims are a clear sign of their overconfidence.”
Drawing on past events, Omar noted, “In 2014, the BJP made lofty promises of winning 45 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. However, their performance in the national elections that followed fell short, stopping at 240 seats, far from the projected 400.”
Omar emphasized that the National Conference approaches elections with humility and realistic expectations. “We are hopeful of gaining the people’s support and an opportunity to govern. Unlike the BJP, we are not fixated on seat numbers,” he stated.
He advised BJP leaders to refrain from making exaggerated claims about electoral victories and instead focus on addressing the real issues facing the people.
