Abhijeet Jasrotia, the BJP spokesperson, condemned the “heinous act” and said that terrorism is an evil that needs to be combated jointly. “Strongly condemn the terrorists’ horrific murder of Deepu of Udhampur in Anantnag. The threat of terrorism must be combated by all of us. It is a plague on humanity. Entire nation is standing shoulder to shoulder with the family,” he stated, expressing his sympathies to the family. Abhijeet said J&K Police is closely monitoring the situation and will nab the killers soon.
Suspected terrorists sideshoot killed a circus worker named Deepu from Udhampur district of Jammu when he stepped out of an amusement park to buy milk at a market in the Ashajipora area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district around 8.30pm Monday.
This was the third targeted attack in J&K this year after terrorists shot dead a Kashmiri Pandit bank guard—Sanjay Kumar, 43—on February 27 when he was buying groceries from a shop in Pulwama district. Couple of days before that, the son of a J&K policeman was wounded in an attack. Deepu was shot fatally thrice from close range by two terrorists suspected to be of the Kashmir Freedom Fighter, a smaller and lesser-known group tied to the banned LeT, police said. The assailants were on a motorcycle and escaped quickly.
