Srinagar, July 04 (GNS): Police on Monday said that a man was arrested along with contraband substances in Hawal area of Srinagar district.

In a statement issued to GNS, the police said that today one suspect driving vehicle Santro bearing registration No. DL4C AG 6712 was signalled to stop at Mirza Kamil chowk Hawal by police party of Police station Zadibal headed by SHO Zadibal Hafizullah Mir. On seeing the police party the suspect tried to escape, However the suspect along with the vehicle was apprehended tactfully by the police party.

The police spokesman further stated that on proper search of the suspect and his vehicle 20 bottles(100 ml each) of Codeine Phosphate & chlorpheniramine Maleate Syrup brand name CODICEL were recovered and were seized on spot and accordingly accused namely Aamir Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Mohd Sheikh resident of Narwara Eidgah Srinagar was arrested on spot and vehicle was seized.

In this regard case FIR No 53/2022 U/S 8/21 NDPS was registered at police station Zadibal and investigation has been set into motion to ascertain the forward and backward links in the instant case, concludes the statement.(GNS)
