Bridge to be repaired soon: Tehsildar Boniyar
Uri, Aug 2 : Over a dozen villages in Boniyar area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have been disconnected from the tehsil headquarters for the last three days due to the closure of a bridge.
Locals told GNS that the bridge, located in Trikanjan area of Boniyar, has recently suffered partial damage.
“The bridge plates have been damaged. The road on which this bridge is constructed comes under the PMGSY Department, while the bridge itself was built by the Indian Army a few years back,” locals said.
They reported that the bridge’s closure to vehicular traffic is causing significant hardships for students, patients, and employees.
“The administration in Boniyar has closed this bridge for vehicular traffic due to the partial damage. Unfortunately, no authority is trying to restore it promptly,” they complained.
The disconnected villages of Boniyar include Banhali, Salasan, Badian, Maidanan, Darakojan, Dudran, Lajdli, Nalla, Korali, Gagarhill, Jabadi, Chotali, Sumali, and several others.
Locals have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, SDM Uri, and Tehsildar Boniyar to repair the bridge for traffic at the earliest.
However, Tehsildar Boniyar, Mohammad Najibullah Shah, told GNS that the Tarkanjan bridge has been partially damaged and closed to traffic.
“I have written to the concerned department regarding the repair of this bridge, and we hope that the bridge will be repaired soon for traffic,” he assured.(GNS)
