Srinagar 28th March Shaharbeen Times: Imran Reza Ansari expressed his dismay over comments made by Omar Abdullah during a rally in Budgam. Ansari, known for his religious convictions, felt compelled to intervene after Abdullah’s remarks touched on matters of faith.
During the rally, Abdullah reportedly stated that certain political groups may receive election certificates but not certificates of paradise (Jannat). Ansari, a devout follower of Islam, took issue with this assertion, emphasizing that only Allah can determine who enters Jannat, in line with Islamic beliefs.
Ansari cautioned Abdullah against making light of religious matters, reminding him that the era of misconceptions and myths surrounding religious figures like Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah has passed. He urged Abdullah to introspect and not take his political rivals’ tolerance for granted, noting that in other circumstances, his actions might have been more scrutinized.
Furthermore, Ansari advised Abdullah to refrain from behaving like a feudal lord and to avoid using religion in his rhetoric, given his purported lack of knowledge and practice in religious matters.
This critique from Ansari sheds light on the complexities of the political and religious landscape in the region, highlighting the need for sensitivity and respect when discussing such matters.
