DC Kupwara Issues Advisory As MeT Predicts of ‘Heavy Rains’ in District Next Week

Asks Officers not to leave stations without permission

Kupwara, Jul 22 (GNS): Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, who is also Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kupwara on Friday issued an advisory for people of Kupwara district. The advisory reads that in view of prediction by Meteorological Department there is possibility of heavy rains for next week.

The people of Kupwara district in general and residing in the areas like Keran, Karnah, Machil, Budnamal, Jumgund, Nowgam, Kumkadi and those living on periphery of different nallahs/ rivers, flood prone and sloppy areas are advised to refrain from venturing in avalanche prone areas during the rainfall and till the improvement of weather.

Further, all the line departments like Revenue, Police, I&FC Deptt, R&B Deptt. Health, PHE (Jal Shakti), PDD Deptt. BEACON, Mechanical Department, Urban Local Bodies, Sheep/Animal Husbandry Officers, PMGSY, FS&CA Department are advised not to leave their headquarters without permission from the competent authority and keep close liaison with the general public.

The advisory further reads,that the General public can contact District Disaster Management Control Room at 9419268121, 01955-253522, Ploice Control Room Kupwara on 01955252451 and Police Control Room Handwara on 01955-262295, for any information/help.
