The Meteorological Department of Kashmir on Wednesday said there are indications of a harsh winter this year in the Kashmir valley.The MeT director in Srinagar, Mukhtar Ahmad, told Kashmir Despatch that as already forecasted based on various global models, there are indications that this year may be particularly cold in Kashmir, in terms of temperature ranges.He predicted another spell of light snowfall in the higher reaches of Kashmir, most likely in the northern region, towards the end of this week.The official said that currently the weather is dry, but in the coming days, a western disturbance is expected to approach around November 23-24, which may bring light snowfall to some mountainous areas,As per Kashmir’s private forecaster Kashmir Weather, Srinagar recorded the first sub-zero temperature at minus 0.7 degree Celsius.Shopian in South Kashmir recorded minus 3.9 degree Celsius while in Pahalgam, the mercury plummeted and settled at 3.7 degree Celsius
