Srinagar, 29 August 2025

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date for fresh admissions and re-registration for the July 2025 session till 31st August 2025. Admissions are open for Masters, Bachelors, PG Diploma and Diploma programmes through the university’s admission portal.

Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar, Dr. A H Rizvi said, this is another chance for the candidates who have missed out to enroll in university’s different programme for its upcoming academic session. This is the final opportunity for candidates wishing to enroll in IGNOU’s academic programmes for the July 2025 session,” Dr. Rizvi added.

He emphasized that admissions and re-registrations are open through 30 Learner Support Centres (LSCs) located across both union territories.

Dr. Rizvi informed that the University is expanding its academic horizon each year and has launched around 60 new programmes, including Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUPs) under the NEP 2020 framework, and new postgraduate courses in disciplines such as Geography, Geo-Informatics, Applied Statistics, and Renewable Energy.

These additions underscore IGNOU’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and supporting the diverse academic aspirations of learners in the region, Dr Rizvi said.

Undergraduate programmes now include FYUPs in Commerce, Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, Philosophy, and Biochemistry, among others.

Fresh admissions are being conducted online through the SAMARTH portal. Candidates are required to create a User ID and Password, and keep documents such as academic certificates, a photograph, mobile number, email ID, and payment details ready. A DEB ID is mandatory for submitting the application.

Dr Rizvi also warned applicants to remain cautious against fraudulent calls, QR codes, or payment requests made via WhatsApp or social media: “IGNOU does not solicit any fees outside of its official platforms,” he cautioned.
