Inclement weather forecast: Admin issues advisory for public, departments

RAMBAN, AUGUST 23: Inclement weather forecast: Ramban admin issues advisory for public, departments. District Administration Ramban has issued a detailed advisory (precautionary measures) for the general public and concerned departments in view of the weather forecast- alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre, Rambagh, Srinagar (Ref: WS-01 dated 23.08.2025), predicting intense rainfall with the possibility of cloudbursts, flash floods, landslides and mudslides across Jammu & Kashmir, including District Ramban, from August 23, 2025 to Aug 27, 2025.

The General Public has been advised to avoid venturing near nallahs, riverbanks, flood-prone, or waterlogged areas, keep emergency supplies ready and stay updated with official weather advisories, remain vigilant and prioritize personal and community safety at all times, evade unnecessary travel, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas, residents in vulnerable areas should identify safer locations and move in consultation with local authorities, stay away from landslide-prone zones, fast-flowing streams, and unstable slopes.

All stakeholder departments including Revenue, PWD (R&B), Mechanical Engineering, PMGSY, JPDCL, Jal Shakti, Health & Medical, Education, Irrigation & Flood Control, NH-44, BRO and others have been directed to remain on high alert. Ensure that the field staff remain stationed at their respective headquarters and be prepared to provide immediate assistance.

In the event of school closures due to adverse weather, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) shall report the situation to the Chief Education Officer, who will inform the Deputy Commissioner at least one day in advance.

Reporting of Damages- All Tehsildars have been instructed to report immediately any loss of life or property due to prevailing weather conditions to this office without delay.
