Loans borrowed in our name without our knowledge: Allege Rafiabad residents
Locals filed compliant, seek investigation
Baramulla May 10 (KNS): At least half of dozen families on Thursday alleged that they have been tricked to avail loans by misusing their documents in Kangroosa village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla.
Reports reaching to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that it came to a shock to the several families of Kangroosa Rafiabad after a team of Cooperative Bank officials arrived in the village to recover the amount from loan defaulters.
The families expressed annoyance after the bank officials arrived at their residence to claim that the families have borrowed loans from the bank of 50 thousand, which have been swallowed to 2 lac rupees including the interest amount.
Khursheed Ahamd Beig, a local told KNS that last Friday a team of Cooperative Bank Officials arrived at his residence and claimed that I have borrowed loan in 2011 from Dangiwacha Branch, which actually I have never borrowed.
Smelling rat in the activity, Beig said that I believe some of my documents might have been misused by unscrupulous elements.
“I have lodged a complaint with Police and sought investigation into the matter,” Beig said and added, “I have been regularly visiting to the said bank from years but the officials there never asked me about the loan amount”.
“We have no idea how and when our documents have been forged to avail loans. We are in stressful situation and have approached police to investigate the matter,” he said.
He added that the guarantor which had been mentioned in my loan documents has expired 6 years before.
“This has not happened only with me. There are several other neighbours who have been duped and told to pay the loan amount,” he added.
A bank official told KNS that after borrowing loans many claims they have not borrowed loan but we have documents in possession with complete details including signatures of guarantors.
“We have been directed by higher authorities to persuade the consumers to pay the outstanding amount with some relaxation in the interest,” bank official continued. (KNS)
