Baisaran Forests Turned Into a Fortress as Tech-Assisted Search Intensifies,

Army Deploys Helicopters, Drones, and Radar to Track Attackers

Sketches of Three Suspected Militants Released

Srinagar, Apr 23, KNT: In the wake of the devastating militant attack near Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them tourists, the security forces have launched one of the biggest search operations in recent times in the Baisaran valley of south Kashmir.

Dubbed as Kashmir’s ‘mini-Switzerland’ for its scenic beauty, Baisaran has now been turned into a high-security zone, with multiple layers of forces patrolling the area. The Army, assisted by advanced radar technology, drones, and helicopters, is combing the vast forested and mountainous stretches in search of the attackers.

“All entry and exit points to Baisaran have been sealed. A high-tech operation is underway with aerial and ground surveillance working in tandem,” Defense sources told Kashmir News Trust.

As part of the investigation, sketches of three suspected militants involved in the attack have been released by security agencies. The suspects identified as Asif Fauji, Suleman Shah, and Abu Talha were allegedly involved in earlier militancy-related incidents in the Poonch sector. According to officials, the trio also went by the aliases Moosa, Yunus, and Asif.

The sketches were prepared based on inputs from survivors and eyewitnesses, many of whom recalled seeing the attackers moments before the assault. The release of these sketches is expected to help generate leads from the public and assist in narrowing down the search.

Security officials believe the militants may still be hiding in the dense forests or rugged terrain of the region. While no encounter with wanted militants have been reported so far, the combing operation continues round the clock. [KNT]
