An unidentified militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight at Yedipora area of Pattan in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday, an official said.
A senior police officer while confirming to GNS that one militant has been killed, whose identity is yet to be ascertained as of now.
Earlier a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in the area.
As the joint team of forces zeroed towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired on the joint team, which was retaliated triggering off a gunfight.
Shopian Gunfight: There was a lull after a gunfight broke out been militants and security forces in wee hours on Friday at Chitragam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A top Police officer told GNS that there was a lull after a brief exchange of fire took place between militants and security forces in wee hours today.
Militants might have escaped from the encounter site taking advantage of darkness, however we are not taking any chance as cordon and search operation will continue in the area to trace fleeing militants, the top cop added. GNS
