NC Rejects Allegations of BJP Alliance, Calls PDP’s Decision “Worst for J&K”: Rather
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on WhatsApp

Chrar-e-Sharif, September 21 – In a powerful display of strength at the revered Chrar-e-Sharif Shrine, the National Conference (NC) reaffirmed its commitment to standing apart from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), dispelling rumors of any alliance between the two parties. Senior NC leader, Rather, while addressing journalists on the sidelines of the event, strongly emphasized that the party has never formed an alliance with the BJP and will not do so in the future.

Referring to historical events, Rather pointed out that during Omar Abdullah’s tenure as a central minister, India was in need of a Prime Minister, and 23 parties across the country showed their faith in the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was then the most senior and respected figure in Indian politics. “It was Atal Bihari Vajpayee who publicly assured that Article 370 would not be tampered with, a statement made right here in Kashmir,” Rather noted, highlighting that NC’s position has always been clear on this matter.

Rather further attacked the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), blaming them for giving the BJP an entry into Jammu and Kashmir politics. He stated, “It was the PDP who gave BJP a chance to rule in Jammu and Kashmir. Together, they secured 53 seats, and we have been consistently saying that it was one of the worst decisions made by the PDP against the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”

When questioned about recent remarks by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding Jammu and Kashmir, Rather did not hold back. “The Home Minister should refrain from making unnecessary statements about J&K. He needs to show patience. Once the elections are completed, he will receive his response directly from the vote of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Rather stated confidently, indicating NC’s strong belief in its electoral strength in the region.

As the political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir continues to evolve, the National Conference’s robust presence at Chrar-e-Sharif signals its readiness to challenge both the BJP and PDP in the upcoming elections, while firmly maintaining its stand on the region’s autonomy and the legacy of Article 370.
