PW’s Scholarship Exam Becomes a Ray of Hope for Kashmiri Students: 20 Deserving Candidates to Get Free One-Year Course

By Shaharbeen Times Staff Reporter

In a major step towards academic upliftment in the Valley, PW (Physics Wallah) conducted a scholarship examination on 6th April (Sunday), open to all students purely on the basis of merit, regardless of financial background. This inclusive approach ensured that talent was the only criteria, making the initiative even more meaningful for Kashmir’s youth.

Out of all the applicants, 20 students have been selected through this open merit exam, and each of them will now receive full access to a one-year online course—completely free of cost.

These students will be enrolled into four specially designed online batches, each aligned with the JKBOSE (Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education) syllabus. The initiative has been widely praised as a significant opportunity for Kashmiri students to receive quality education and guidance without having to relocate or spend heavily on coaching centers.

The four batches will commence this week, with features such as live interactive sessions, recorded lectures, expert mentorship, and regular assessments to help students stay on track.

A Student’s Perspective: From Doubt to Determination

One of the selected students, while speaking exclusively to Shaharbeen Times, shared:
“I am so glad. There are thousands of students in Kashmir who have the ability to achieve extraordinary things, but due to limited resources, many dreams remain unfulfilled. With PW’s support, we no longer have excuses. That’s why today, even a golgappay wala, a roti maker or a street vendor’s child can crack top exams. PW is breaking barriers and opening doors for everyone.”

While financial background was not a restriction, the initiative has still brought much-needed relief and support to students from diverse socio-economic sections—from underprivileged families to those simply in need of quality academic guidance.

A Broader Vision

PW’s move into the Kashmiri education landscape reflects a broader vision: to democratize education by making it accessible, region-specific, and aligned with local boards like JKBOSE. The focus here is on nurturing real potential, not just academic scores.

Rather than importing a one-size-fits-all model, PW has tailored its teaching approach to Kashmir’s specific needs, thereby making students feel seen, heard, and empowered.

Voices of Appreciation

Educators and parents across Kashmir have expressed appreciation. A school principal in Srinagar commented, “This is merit in its truest form. By not limiting it to the poor or privileged, PW has made it about ability and effort. That’s what makes this so powerful.”

The initiative is now being viewed as a model worth replicating—not just in Kashmir, but in other regions where students are full of potential but short on resources or exposure.

What Lies Ahead

As the first batch of classes begins this week, expectations are high, and hopes are even higher. The success of these 20 students could ignite a new era of academic aspiration across the Valley.

PW’s scholarship initiative has not only opened doors for the selected students but has also sent a strong message: when merit meets opportunity, the results can be transformational.

Shaharbeen Times will continue to track the progress of these students and share their journeys—because every breakthrough they achieve will be a story of hope for others still waiting for their chance.
