Rain, Snowfall Expected Across Jammu and Kashmir From November 10; Dry Spell to Continue Till November 9
Srinagar, Nov 7: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness a change in weather conditions from November 10, with the Meteorological Centre Srinagar forecasting light rain across parts of the Union Territory and snowfall over higher reaches, following a spell of mainly dry weather expected to continue until November 9.
According to the latest forecast issued by the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, generally cloudy conditions are likely on November 10 and 11, with light rain expected at scattered to many places and light snowfall over higher reaches, particularly towards the evening of November 10.
The weather department has forecast another spell of precipitation on November 12 and 13, when generally cloudy conditions are likely to prevail across the region. Light to moderate rain may occur at many places, while higher reaches are likely to receive light to moderate snowfall from the evening or night of November 12.
The weather is expected to improve thereafter, with partly cloudy conditions forecast for November 14 and 15.
The anticipated precipitation could bring a change in conditions across the Kashmir Valley and mountainous areas, where temperatures have already begun reflecting the seasonal transition. The forecast, however, does not establish that snowfall will occur in the plains or at any particular tourist destination.
The Meteorological Centre has advised farmers to continue harvesting and other agricultural operations until November 10 and ensure the safe storage of harvested crops before the expected change in weather.
Travellers and transporters have also been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow traffic advisories, particularly while travelling through higher-altitude routes where snowfall could affect road conditions if it occurs.
The forecast points to a largely dry weekend and early next week, followed by a possible spell of rain and snowfall before conditions turn partly cloudy again towards the middle of November.
The forecast remains subject to change, and people have been advised to follow subsequent updates from the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.
