South Kashmir: Gunfight rages in Kulgam

Srinagar, April 09 :(GNS) Encounter broke out between militants and security forces in ChakiSamad area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday.

Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in ChakiSamad.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.

A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.

Meanwhile another encounter is underway in Srihama area of Anantnag district.(GNS)

Encounter has started at ChakiSamad, DH Pora area of #Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.
