Several feared dead as passenger vehicle falls into gorge in North Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 31 (GNS): Several passengers are feared to have died after a vehicle they were travelling in met with a fatal accident in Boniyar area in Baramulla district.

Boniyar Accident: 7 Bodies Recovered, 8 Injured Under Treatment

Srinagar, Jan 31 (KS): Seven persons are confirmed to have died and eight others are under treatment at a hospital, in the aftermath of a deadly road accident at Bujhthalan in Boniyar area of Baramulla district.

An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that bodies of the passengers have been recovered and will be handed over the families after medico-legal formalities.

The official identified the deceased as; Tahira Begum (35) wife of Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh, Ameena Bano (17) daughter of Abdul Gani Sheikh, Mohd Maqbool Sheikh (70) son of Ahmad Sheikh, Mohd Maqsood Sheikh (35) son of Gh Rasool Sheikh of Bujthalan, Abdul Rehman Lone (60) son of Fatah Lone, Sameena Begum (45) wife of Abdul Hameed Sheikh and Sarwa Begum (55) wife of Late Ghulam Mohd Bakhshi.

“The injured persons are being treated at GMC Baramulla”, the official said further. (KS)

An official told GNS that a passenger vehicle on the way to Uri rolled down into a gorge at Bujhthala, resulting in several casualties and injuries to several others.

“Soon after the accident, a rescue operation was launched at the site”, the official said, adding the bodies have been recovered and the injured persons shifted to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment.

The rescue operation was going on the site – when this report was being filed.
