Cloudy Conditions and Intermittent Rain Expected Till Aug 7th Across J&K: MeT
Srinagar, July 29 : With relief to the people amid a prolonged heatwave, Srinagar and other parts of the Valley on Monday experienced light showers leading to a noticeable drop in maximum temperatures.
As per details available with Kashmir Front (KF), Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 24.8°C, marking the highest minimum temperature in 132 years. This temperature is 6.0°C above normal and ties with the 2nd highest minimum temperature recorded on July 26, 2021. The highest record remains at 25.2°C, set on July 21, 1988.
The maximum temperatures showed a noticeable drop from yesterday’s highs. Maximum temperatures recorded today include 27.7°C in Srinagar, 28.4°C in Qazigund, 24.3°C in Pahalgam, 32.0°C in Kupwara, 28.1°C in Kokernag, 20.8°C in Gulmarg, 27.6°C in Anantnag, 28.9°C in Bandipora, 27.6°C in Baramulla, 24.8°C in Sonamarg, 27.1°C in Budgam, 27.4°C in Pulwama, and 27.5°C in Shopian. In the Jammu region, maximum temperatures were recorded as 33.0°C in Jammu, 29.8°C in Banihal, 28.3°C in Batote, 29.2°C in Bhaderwah, 30.1°C in Katra, 32.6°C in Udhampur, 35.5°C in Kathua, 30.1°C in Poonch, 30.8°C in Kishtwar, 36.9°C in Samba, and 34.4°C in Reasi. Ladakh saw 31.8°C in Leh, 31.6°C in Kargil, and 26.7°C in Drass.
The Meteorological Department in Srinagar has issued the following weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir: From July 30th to August 7th, the region will experience generally cloudy conditions with intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershowers. Rain is expected at many places in the Kashmir Division and will be widespread across the Jammu Division.
Advisory: Intense showers are likely, which may result in flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides, and mudslides in vulnerable areas. Heavy rainfall is also possible in some parts of the Jammu Division. (KF)
