Srinagar, 28th July– Srinagar has recorded a scorching 36.2°C today, marking the 6th highest maximum temperature ever recorded in the month of July since weather records began in 1893.

- 37.0°C on 09 July 1999
- 36.6°C on 19 July 1997
- 36.4°C on 24 July 1967
In other parts of the region, Qazigund today recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6°C, surpassing its previous all-time high of 34.5°C set on 11 July 1988. Similarly, Kokernag reached 34.1°C, breaking its previous record of 33.5°C set just earlier this month on 22 July 2024.
Some Shocking Facts from Today’s Extreme Heatwave:
- The real feel temperature in Srinagar may have reached 39.5°C, making it feel nearly 40°C on the ground.
- Qazigund surpassed its previous highest ever maximum temperature by a significant margin of 1.1°C.
- Kokernag exceeded its previous highest temperature by 0.6°C.
- The departure from normal for Qazigund was 7.7°C, while for Kokernag it was an astonishing 8.7°C.
