New Delhi: Two youngsters were seriously injured in separate brutal knife attacks in the city, with one 18-year-old stabbed multiple times in northeast Delhi and a 16-year-old attacked in south Delhi. In the first incident, an 18-year-old furniture maker, identified as Farman, was stabbed multiple times late Monday night in northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park. According to police, the attack occurred around 11.15 pm while Farman was walking with a friend to a nearby eatery.Three unidentified men reportedly approached the duo from behind and began verbally abusing them. “When the two objected, two of the assailants held Farman while the third repeatedly stabbed him with a knife,” said a senior police officer. The attackers fled the scene immediately after.Despite his injuries, Farman managed to return home, where his friends rushed him to a private hospital on a scooter. Police have registered a case under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Shastri Park police station. A search is underway to identify and apprehend the suspects. In a separate incident on May 1, a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the neck and assaulted by a group of boys in a park in south Delhi’s Madangir area.Police said the victim, a resident of Madangir, was approached outside his home around 9 pm by two known boys who asked him to accompany them to a nearby park. Once there, they were joined by four others.”During the interaction, one of the boys accused the victim of behaving arrogantly and suddenly pulled out a knife, stabbing him in the neck,” a senior officer said. The rest of the group then beat the teenager with sticks and fists. The injured boy managed to flee and return home, after which a PCR van took him to AIIMS Trauma Centre. Based on his statement and medical report, an FIR under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the BNS has been registered at Ambedkar Nagar police station. Police are investigating and efforts are ongoing to trace the attackers.
