3rd wave may hit India by August end; Situation to be critical: Expert

July, 18: The country’s well-known infectious disease expert says that by the end of August, the third knock may come in the country. He has also stressed compliance with the restrictions. Dr. Samiran Panda, Head of the Department of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases in the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), also cautioned that the states which have not seen many side effects in the first two waves, in the third wave, the situation is critical.

He said that all the states must keep an eye on the epidemic here and take steps according to the situation of Corona. There are some states where the first and second waves have not had much adverse effect.

But, if the restrictions are not maintained then serious situations can arise in these states, he said.

Dr. Panda said that whether the third wave is less and what its impact will depend on many factors, which is important to understand well.

He said that the second wave is not over yet, as the cases have been volatile. It has something to do with investigation and reporting. On more cases of corona infection in some states, he said that the pandemic is changing its form according to the region. So not taking it at the national level, it has to be seen at what stage it is in different states.

NITI Aayog member Dr. VK Pal said that at present it will not be possible to stop it. Despite the second wave, there are a large number of people in the country who have survived the infection and can easily become a victim of infection.

Similarly, the vaccine has not yet been administered in India in such quantity that herd immunity can be prepared in people against the infection.

He described the next three-four months as very important.

Dr. Paul said that during the next three to four months, if India is successful in vaccinating a large number of people, then the third wave can be prevented or its side effects can be reduced to a great extent.

WHO has recently issued a warning that the third wave has started in the world. The situation has gone from bad to worse in many parts of the world.
