Srinagar, July 25: Most parts of Jammu and Kashmir are likely to witness light to moderate rain showers on Saturday, while a few places may receive heavy spells, according to the latest weather update issued by Kashmir Weather.

The weather forecaster said that intermittent rainfall is expected across the Union Territory during the day, although the overall intensity is likely to remain light to moderate. However, isolated areas could experience intense showers capable of triggering localised flooding.

Kashmir Weather has also warned that the threat of shooting stones, landslides and flash floods will persist, particularly in vulnerable hilly and mountainous regions where the ground remains saturated after days of continuous rainfall.

A gradual improvement in weather conditions is expected from late afternoon onwards, with rainfall likely to reduce significantly. Most places are expected to turn dry by evening, bringing temporary relief from the wet spell.

Authorities have advised residents, commuters and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel through landslide-prone areas, remain alert near rivers and streams, and follow official weather advisories.

The latest forecast comes as water levels in the River Jhelum continue to recede at major monitoring stations across Kashmir, indicating a gradual improvement in the flood situation. However, officials have urged the public not to lower their guard, as weather-related hazards may continue in vulnerable areas
