Press Club of Kashmir President Visits Anantnag, Engages with Local Media; Condolence Meeting Held in Srinagar Office

Srinagar, 19 April 2025:
The President of the Press Club of Kashmir, Mohammad Saleem Pandit, visited South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday to interact with local media professionals and listen to their concerns. During the visit, several journalists from the region, including Tassaduq Ahmad, raised issues related to their fieldwork, professional challenges, and representation.

In response, Pandit assured the journalists of their enrollment as official members of the Press Club of Kashmir, stating that membership cards would soon be distributed to strengthen coordination and address grievances more effectively. He further encouraged media personnel from other districts of Kashmir Valley to collect their enrollment cards from the Srinagar office of the Press Club.

The Press Club delegation also held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag, Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid (IAS), who welcomed the team warmly. He expressed his commitment to extending all possible support to journalists in carrying out their professional responsibilities without hindrance.

As part of the day’s engagements, the local media fraternity also bid farewell to SSP Anantnag, Dr. GV Sundeep Chakravarthy, who has recently been transferred and appointed as SSP Srinagar. Deputy Commissioner Hamid also extended his best wishes to Dr. Chakravarthy for his new assignment.

Meanwhile, at the Srinagar office of the Press Club of Kashmir, the executive body held a condolence meeting in solidarity with senior videographer of Daily Excelsior, Javed Dar, whose wife passed away on Friday. The members offered prayers for the departed soul and expressed deep sympathies with the bereaved family, praying for her eternal peace and a place in Jannah.
