Himachal landslide: Bodies of three Kashmiris brought to Srinagar

Srinagar, Sep 06: The mortal remains of three Kashmiri workers, who lost their lives in the Kullu landslide in Himachal Pradesh, were repatriated to Kashmir and reached Srinagar on Saturday with full dignity and respect.In a statement issued here, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) said that out of the seven deceased workers, three bodies were recovered and were initially being transported in load carriers. The association immediately took up the matter with the Chief Minister’s Office and Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, who intervened without delay. Road transportation was halted, and the bodies were airlifted to ensure dignified repatriation.According to the Chief Secretary, the recovered mortal remains were flown through Chandigarh Airport and have now landed at Srinagar Airport. They are being transported to their respective hometowns for final rites.The Himachal Pradesh Government bore the entire cost of transportation and airlifting, while the Jammu and Kashmir Government provided ambulances to carry the mortal remains to their homes.JKSA expressed gratitude to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena for their swift intervention and humanitarian approach.The association also acknowledged the J&K Government’s support in providing ambulance services.Meanwhile, the rescue operation in Kullu continues on a war footing to trace the remaining four workers still trapped under the debris.
