Examinations in Winter Zones to be Held in Oct-Nov 2025, Summer Zones in Mar-Apr 2026
Restoration Marks Return to Traditional March-November Academic Session

SRINAGAR, MAY 21 (شہربین ٹائمز): In a significant development for students and educators, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has formally restored the traditional academic calendar for both the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The board on Wednesday released a revised academic schedule marking a return to the March–November academic session.

According to the notification, for the Kashmir Division, Winter Zone areas of Jammu Division, and UT of Ladakh, the academic session for classes 10th, 11th, and 12th will now follow the 2024–25 calendar, with Annual Regular Examinations scheduled for October–November 2025.

For the Summer Zone of Jammu Division, the academic session will be 2025–26, and the annual examinations for classes 9th through 12th will be held in March–April 2026.

JKBOSE clarified that this restoration follows the earlier government decision to revert to the pre-2022 academic pattern. The change had been initially implemented in 2022 under a Uniform Academic Calendar policy, but was reassessed in 2024 by the Council of Ministers. Consequently, it was decided that the previous academic calendar—November-December for classes 1st to 9th—would be reinstated starting with the 2024–25 session.

The shift aims to synchronize the academic sessions with regional climatic conditions and facilitate better learning outcomes. JKBOSE has urged all affiliated schools to follow the updated calendar accordingly and prepare for the revised examination timelines.

This move is expected to streamline academic planning and provide much-needed clarity to students, parents, and educational institutions across both UTs.
