Ceasefire Agreement Between Israel and Hezbollah to Begin Wednesday. In a significant development, a ceasefire between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah will take effect on Wednesday. The agreement, brokered by the United States and France, was announced by U.S. President Joe Biden. The truce aims to end a deadly conflict along the Israeli-Lebanese border that erupted after the Gaza war last year, claiming thousands of lives. President Biden, speaking from the White House, confirmed that the ceasefire had been approved by Israel’s security cabinet with a decisive 10-1 vote.
