In resonance with commitment towards restoring peace and ensuring robust domination of the area, Jugtial Army camp interacted with the Gujjars and Bakkarwals of both local area and those coming from different districts of Jammu to Hayama in Kupwara.
Every year in summer season, several deras are established by these Gujjars and Bakarwals who come for cattle rearing and occupy the dhoks for shelter. They come from far flung areas of Jammu and they have always been friendly towards Indian Army which is a result of unending efforts of Army to ensure great connect with them. The interaction was aimed at enquiring about their well being and strengthening the bonhomie with them which will greatly help in getting timely and first hand information of any mishappening or suspicious movement in area in and around Kanari Khan Gali as it is a major and important avenue for infiltration towards Kupwara town and beyond.
They were asked about their well being, health and living conditions. They were also assured of any assistance which Army can provide. Basic medicines for fever, dysentry etc were also given to them. This kind gesture of Indian Army was greatly appreciated by the Gujjars and Bakarwals and they greeted the Army pers with smiling faces and warm hugs which is a testimony to exemplary Awam-Jawan connect.
