J&K Assembly Election Results Live: Today’s poll verdict will pave the way for Jammu and Kashmir’s first elected government since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. Counting of votes has begun in the UT amid heavy security across 28 polling stations with postal ballots being counted first. The overall voter turnout for the three phases of J&K elections — its first in a decade — came to 63.45 per cent, settling just under the 2014 mark, but much more than the figures seen during the Lok Sabha polls months ago.Throwback to 2014 poll results: The J-K Assembly polls that were held in 2014 proved the most competitive in a decade for the then state. The PDP emerged as the single-largest party with 28 seats (all in Kashmir province), though falling far short of the majority mark of 44 in the 87-member House. The BJP followed with 25 seats — all in the Jammu region — and was part of a coalition government with the PDP. The Farooq Abdullah-led NC won 15 seats and the Congress, an NC ally until the 2014 Lok Sabha polls held earlier that year, won 12 seats.
