The NSS unit of Govt. College 0f Engineering & Technology, Jammu (J&K UT) today on 5th of June 2021 organized a national level Webinar to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav- Celebration of India’s 75 years of Independence and to celebrate World’s Environment Day. According to press release sent to Shaharbeen Times, The event was held under the and able guidance of college Principal Dr. Sameru Sharma. Beside welcoming all the participants, she told the concept behind observing world’s environment day is to focus on the importance of environment and to remind people that nature should not be taken for granted. She said that the year 2021 marks the beginning United Nations Decade for ecosystem restoration (2021-2030).
Around 225 participant, students and faculties registered and participated for the event from the different colleges and universities of states and UT’s across the country. The resource person of the event was Dr. Munish Sharma who is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant Sciences, Central University of Himachal Pradesh. The topic of his talk was Green Technology: An Effective way for Healthy and Clean Environment. In his talk he discussed about the various aspects of green technology which can change the lifestyle of human now a days. He described the use of technology and science to create products that are more environment friendly and are used in such a way that they do not disturb our environment and conserve natural resources. The event was organized by NSS volunteers and coordinated by Dr. Raman Gupta, Sr. Assistant Professor in Chemistry (NSS Programme Officer) GCET, Jammu. He pledged with all participants to join hands to contribute towards the campaign of restoration and conservation of ecosystem. The event was ended with vote of thanks. The vote of thanks was given by senior NSS volunteer Mr. Mandeep Singh of the college. All the participants will be provided the e-certificates for the event.
