Srinagar, Jan 27 : The All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has expressed concern over the stone pelting incidents on the houses of minority Sikh members at Saidpora village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama. The committee has demanded a thorough probe in the matter so that the truth comes out.

In a statement, APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said that some unscrupulous elements are pelting stones on houses during night hours to terrorise the Sikh minority in Saidpora village over the last few days. He said the miscreants tried to put one of the houses on fire thus leading to damages to the Kitchen of the house.

The APSCC Chairman said that one of the youth identified as Ashu Singh son of Late Pappu Singh sustained grievous injuries in the incident following which he was shifted to SKIMS-Soura where he was operated upon. He said that many other members of the community also received injuries and they too received treatment.

“We have very good relations with majority community and have been living peacefully. During the peak militancy in the valley Sikhs never migrated. Despite this there are some elements who want to create a wedge between the majority and minority communities in Kashmir,” said Raina

The APSCC Chairman asked the members of both the majority Muslim community and minority Sikh community to remain vigilant so as to defeat the nefarious designs of subversive elements. He said that he has already talked to some of the district level officers so that the members of Sikh community don’t feel scared.

Raina said that the need of the hour is that a probe is ordered by the district administration so that culprits behind the incident are exposed. He said that stern action under law should be taken against such people and that such incidents don’t get repeated. [KNT]
