Terror Attack in Baramulla: Two Soldiers, Two Porters Killed; Several Injured

Baramulla, October 25: Shaharbeen Times A : In a tragic turn of events, two soldiers were killed in action, and two civilian porters lost their lives in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday. According to sources the attack also left three others injured, marking another grim day of violence in the region.

The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed the incident through a post on X, stating that a heavy exchange of fire took place between security forces and terrorists in the Butapathri area of Baramulla. The area, known for its strategic significance, witnessed yet another attack aimed at destabilizing the fragile peace.

The attack unfolded when terrorists targeted an army vehicle in the Butapathri sector, triggering a firefight. Among the casualties were two dedicated porters who were assisting the army in their operations. Their loss is a stark reminder of the dangers faced by civilians who work closely with security forces in high-risk areas.

This deadly assault came just hours after another violent incident in Jammu and Kashmir, where a laborer identified as Pritam Singh from Uttar Pradesh was shot and injured. The back-to-back attacks have raised concerns over the increasing intensity of terrorist activities in the region.

This incident marks the second attack on army personnel within the last 72 hours in the Union Territory. As security forces intensify their counterterrorism operations, the recent violence has renewed calls for sustained efforts to root out the threat of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Authorities have cordoned off the area, and a search operation is underway to track down the terrorists responsible for the attack. The Indian Army continues its commitment to ensuring peace and security in the region, despite the persistent threats.

While the nation mourns the loss of its brave soldiers and porters, the resilience of the security forces in their fight against terrorism remains unshaken.

Chief of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah condemned the attack and said “Very unfortunate news about the attack on the army vehicles in the Boota Pathri area of North Kashmir which has resulted in some casualties & injuries. This recent spate of attacks in Kashmir is a matter of serious concern. I condemn this attack is the strongest possible terms & send my condolences to the loved ones of the people who lost their lives. I also pray that injured make a complete & swift recovery.”
