Shopian,13-Mar: (JKNN/ST) The last rites were performed with honors on the body of CRPF officer Mukhtar Ahmed Dohi of Chak Chhotipora village in the southern district of Shopian. There was an atmosphere of mourning throughout the area. Meanwhile, the police said in a statement that the slain CRPF’s accused has been arrested.

Thousands of people attended the last rites of the CRPF personnel and there was a line of mourning in the area. He also saluted the CRPF personnel on the occasion.

The last rites were attended by a large number of locals. CRPF DEG South Kashmir, CO14 Battalion, Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Tehsildar Shopian and other officers were also present on the occasion.

It may be recalled that the suspected militants shot and seriously injured a CRPF officer who was on holiday in Chak Chhotipora area yesterday.

The CRPF trooper was taken to Shopian District Hospital for treatment where doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, the police held a press conference in this regard in which SSP Shopian Amritpal Singh said that the accused involved in the killing of a CRPF officer in an attack yesterday has been arrested by the police. Police arrested Aamir Diwan, a resident of Padpawan Shopian, and recovered a pistol from his possession, police said.
