Ahead of I-Day unattended bag creates bomb-scare in Jammu’s Satwari

Jammu, Aug 14 (KNO): A day before the Independence Day, a suspicious bag triggered a bomb scare in the winter capital of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday morning.

Official sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the unattended bag was found nearby a police check post in Satwari, a few meters away from Jammu Airport and sensitive Air Force Station, Jammu, which recently saw first of its kind drone attacks.

“The black colour bag was found on the roadside. The bag apparently looks like a laptop bag and also has airline tags on it, but in the run-up of security alert due to the Independence Day celebrations, police teams were extra cautious and informed the Bomb Disposal squad,” they said.

Notably, ahead of the Independence Day militant related activities have increased in the Jammu region.

Earlier, on Thursday evening suspected militants lobbed grenades at a BJP leader’s home in Jammu’s Rajouri district in which minor son of BJP leader was killed while half a dozen family members were injured.

On Friday, newly recruited militant was arrested from Kishtwar along with weapon, while cache of arms and ammunition, and IED was also recovered from Poonch’s Mendher—(KNO)
