The BCCI has announced squad for Team India’s T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka starting January 3.

In the 20-over format, seasoned players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli & KL Rahul have not been included in the squad. The team is filled with young faces with Hardik Pandya as skipper, a move which all but confirms his ascent to the top of leadership in the shortest format.

As far as the ODIs are concerned, Rohit returns to the team as skipper after missing Bangladesh series. But the biggest takeaway is Pandya has been appointed Vice-Captain, another move which signals he could be in line to be the next captain in ODI format.

Interestingly, one of India’s mainstay and star players in Test format – Rishabh Pant finds no mention in either squads.
